Recently, i've been experiencing strange symptoms. For one, popups in Firefox appear when on a perfectly safe site. And that's not all, there are even more firefox windows hidden, and i found these when pressing Alt-Tab. To get rid of them i just select them with alt-tab and press alt-f4. Another symptom is that I cannot get WMP11 to run. It opens for a split second and then it's gone. I tried to reinstall it(WMP10 worked fine), but it still didn't work. I also tried a system restore(the earliest was only 5 days ago), and it was unable to do that. After seeing this i installed the free version of AVG. A scan found 4 trojans, and it also stopped a couple trojan processes when they tried to start. As I am typing this, I have found a few more infections. But I not sure if healing those will rid me of problems. Could anyone help me get rid of this problem?

But I think the popups have stopped. Also, while it may say Windows XP Service Pack 3, I actually tried to update last night, and when I started up my laptop today, it said it couldn't do it, so it asked me to rollback, and I declined for now. Your java is out of date and may have been exploited. Download the latest version of java from this link Java Click on the JRE 6 Update 11 download button. Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement". The page will refresh. Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop. Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser. Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the "coffee cup" icon next to it. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions. Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
