I want to purchase a laptop but I am worried about theft I tried to Google getting a gps device installed in my laptop I want something that if its stolen cant just be erased by reformatting the drive and or resetting the bios and found nothing is this possible? Is this laptop for school ? Or ? If it is not for school, then don't buy a laptop and buy a real nice desktop. Laptop batteries only last a couple hours anyway, Hence being plugged into a wall socket, SO, just get a desktop computer instead..

No need to be nervous about it. There are many pre-emptive measures you can take. Buy a lock and USE IT! Alwaya keep the laptop within your reach. Google Encryption software and try out some and see what you like. Put a BIOS password on for an additional measure of security. You could also Google "Securing a laptop computer" And, most importantly, keep a backup somewhere in a safe place so that IF the laptop is stolen, you'll at least still have your data.
