Specs: Windows 7, IntelQuadcore 2.8 GHz
Unwillingly I must have missed the possibility NOT to install Ad-Aware SecureSearch that has taken over my search engine. Is it a useful change and if NOT how do I get rid of it. Have already played with the settings of Firefox, but it comes back after restart.

If CTL-PNL --> Programs... doesn't list SecureSearch, then adwcleaner and/or malwarebytes AM may remove it for you. Wise Plugin Manager will work -- if you find SecureSearch plainly listed.

Further to post #1 above. AdwCleaner will probably cure the immediate symptoms:

(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the Scan. You then have options to remove whatever it shows under each heading in the table that appears below, although it is usually safe to run "Cleaning".

(green Download button top right - not anything else on the page)
Run the program but before doing the scan go to "Settings > Detection and Protection" and put a checkmark in "Scan for rootkits".

If either or both find anything then please copy/paste the logs on here because even if the symptoms are cured you are likely to still have things lurking around that require further cleaning.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Yes please, Copy & Paste the contents of the ADWCleaner & Malwarebytes logs.
Usually Conduit penetrates much further than the tools mentioned so far.
