I want to have a fresh Firefox browser, without all the rigmarole I had on the earlier installation. How do I do that ?

I have uninstalled Firefox and Thunderbird, the Mozilla programs I had on my computer. Then I deleted in C:\program files\ the leftover Mozilla, Thunderbird and Firefox files and thus also their contents. But when I re-install Firefox I still get it with all the previous rigmarole.

Where are these data hiding in my computer and can I get rid of them in some way ?

Thans for the suggestions

Mozilla user here....

Go to the Mozilla web site they have a page on how to install updates. I had one computer running just fine, then wanted another with the same set-up but it was faster too. Tried three times to get it going, and it got results same as you.

Seems there is some files in the registry in which also are a part of the Explorer options, They cannot be removed, only altered. The page tells of reinstallations or hang ups.

You need to bleep out those certain files from registry, then the other Geko and other Mozilla files via Uninstall. The uninstall alone will not alter the registry. Don't bleep out your zip file with the program, for it is good and you need to use it again.

Then re-boot and begin installation. It ought to ask you at some point to reinstall the Windows disk, for it needs the original format from the dialing function installed into proper location. Once done it ought to automatically kick you into a dialing mode, where you set in passwords etc. If this don't automatically begin, then again you did not originally bleep out all the altered files in registry. Took me several tries to find all the altered names. Is easier on first time installation, not an upgrade.

OH, that one too?

Wm.

To find your Firefox profile go here.

C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox

Then delete it.

To find your Thunderbird profile go here.

C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Application Data\Thunderbird

Then delete it.
