Get a router - it's the best defense you can buy. Software FWs are like bow and arrows while router (with its built-in FW) are like the best jet fighter. WHich do you prefer to use to defend yourself?

try Sygate, you'll have to d/l an older version at this link
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=sygate
as Sygate got bought out and are now charging....the old ones are still free and do a great job

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Abnormal
You can have that Norton Bloatware..and then try to remove it after you've ran it for awhile LOL..I think the only reason they phased out sygate is because it got bought out...I personally have never had a problem with it.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I know there is no need to defend Abnormal's link. He always provids a very wide list of suggestions in his links. This link was no exception, as it also had several other articles about software firewalls in it, besides the initial rating. If you read the one from Fred Langa, you would not have made the comment about Norton.

I did buy Norton 2002 firewall before
I found out about the free ones.

Here are some I did not try and can't
comment about.
Free firewalls

Test your firewall here;

I also had Norton av until I found out
about safe hex.
