Hi all, looking for a decent free firewall for xp home, sp2, IE7. I've read about a few here but so many choices. I've used nortons for several years, but can't transfer my last purchase to this new computer. So I'm going free for a while. Also using avg free right now so looking for something compatible, preferably low resources.

Thanks for any suggestions

Comodo Pro is free and works fine and definately not a resource hog like Norton.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

yes - I second that. Comodo firewall is great and they keep updating it too for free.

Or here's another:

Start>>ControlPanel>>WindowsFirewall

OR

Start>>Settings>>ControlPanel>>WindowsFirewall

There is a firewall built into every Windows XP SP2 and in the right hands it can be a powerful tool.

Good Luck. Have a nice day. :)

I'm using windows firewall right now, but I've read it's not 2 way, also not completely reliable. I'll check out comodo.

thanks

Nae bother.

I stick with it and it does me fine. I guess I could be better off but I don't put myself at enough risk I think to warrant having a real hard firewall.

Its just my two pence ^^
