I installed the FREE AVG Anti-Virus program in my neighbors computer and the Windows Security Alert icon in the System Tray will not recognize the fact that I have an Anti-Virus program installed. What do I need to do so that the shield icon goes away, meaning that the program was recognized?

Thanks XpUser4Real for your response. I did remove McAfee, but installed AVG a day later. For now, I just checked the box that said I would monitor the program myself and the icon is no longer there, only now the Security Center is longer monitoring the AntiVirus program. Don't know if thats an advantage or disadvantage.

I wouldn't worry about the Windows Security Center not recognising AVG.I have noticed that it doesn't recognise quite a few av programs.
