Reply: (edit)I think AVG is as good, I do not like Nortons AVG is Free. Nortons slows everything down and get a lot of freezes, and I think their support stinks, had it for 1 year, got tired of it.

Reply: (edit)Same goes for Nortons Utils it has TOO BIG an overhead. I find using smaller individual programs heaps better.

Reply: (edit)My vote goes to PC_CILLIN. McAfee let me down and I got hit with PE_CIH. PC_CILLIN took care of it and is my friend for life.

Reply: (edit)IMHO Norton has gone downhill I have Norton 2002 on an XP machine, 2001 on a Windows 98 machine & 2000 on an old 486, have paid to renew the subscriptions on the older versions. The Norton site has had an update listed for 2 days yet it is not available through Live Update yet on any of the versions I use. Used to be you could post a question on their message board & receive an answer within 24 hours, now it takes days if not weeks to receive an answer. If they can't straighten up their act I'll be looking for other virus protection, since it seems they are no longer reliable

Reply: (edit)Just an Opinion: Norton 2002 is DIFFERENT. It does not use much mem. and does not crash on XP! I caputures and cleans over 90% of virues thrown at it! As for MacAfee it would report viruses but a LOT of times failes to CLEAN them. As for PC-Cillin, fails to detect and clean most virues especialy encrypted ones (it reports different virus names). I've been usin antivirues for over 3years. And now I've come to a conclusion, Norton is simpily the best out there keeping in minde that everything is relative!

Reply: (edit) I think I got this from someone on this forum and want to re-pass for those that have not seen it, a comparison on what anti virus programs work and which ones are not that effective. http://www.virusbtn.com/100/vb100sum.html
