Is there a truly free anti-virus program out there? Not one where you pay 30 days later. I'm looking to replace norton with something similar to it. (real time protection, not just scan once and sit).

Thanks! Win XP

I got rid of norton my first time bug free using this link:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&src=&docid=2001092114452606&nsf=nav.nsf&view=docid&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=

I installed Avast. Do I also need to install zone alrm or will avast be enough? I am a gamer.

Avast is a good Anti-Virus
also,
JUST KEEP IT UPDATED !!!
Yes you need a firewall !!!!!!!!! Unless you want to have browser hijackers, hackers and other nastys enter your system
There are many good ones out there
Zone Alarm
Sygate
Kerio
OutPost
Free Firewall Search- Via Google
I suggest using either Zone Alarm or Kerio

Don't forget the "Go Search" button at the top right of this page. I put in 'Free Antivirus' and got a stack of hits. It has been discussed many times.

Note Bob's words carefully too, some of these nasties are worse than viruses.
