Hello all
Please for the love of god can anyone help me with this one. I posted a message about a week ago about this problem. I have this trojan or virus that is making me turn to the dark side. I feel like getting the pc and smashing it into little peices ahhhhhhhhh The problem is to do with internet explorer. It keeps putting some crap search engine as my home page, will not let me use goggle or yahoo. Now before everybody tell me to use spybot and co i have tried all of these and still no use. What sort of firewall would you recommend??? I must add i have tried doing the scans in safe mode as well.
Why the hell do people make trojans virus type things, Evil Bastxxds

There is one rule of thumb for a securing windows from virus/worm attacks:

Do not use MS applications other than the Windows itself. No MS Outlook, No IE and if possible No MS Office.

Control access to your PC - NO SHARING. ALWAYS lock your PC.

If you use Windows 98 - Move to Windows 2000/XP immediately.

But the best method, and my personal recommendation - migrate to Linux.

Which one? Lycos? Alta Vista? AlltheWeb?

A name or description would make it easier to offer some help here.

What firewall do we recommend ? I use Sygate, but a firewall will not stop your browser from being hi jacked. SpyBot-Teatimer or MS Antispyware Beta will.

Get ZoneAlarm as a firewall and switch to Firefox for your browser. They are both free. If you don't have an antivirus or the one you have got isnt working properly try AVG (also free)

To get rid of this virus try deleting all of your temporary files.

Install and run AD AWARE and SPYBOT and HIJACK THIS. Make sure to update them before running the first scans. You have what is known as a hopmepage highjack and it's too ahrd to correct. The scans should find the problema nd correct it.
Also, IE I think is a problem. I use it only for MS Updates, and use Firefox instead, IMHO.
Make sure you install a firewall like ZONE ALARM FREE and also that your Anti-Virus is current in the defs, and you can download for free either AVG or AVAST.
And surf away from porn.
A good free Anti Trojan to download is A Sqaured. (A2)
