Anyone out there know a good quality program for securing folders? Guess what I am looking for is password protection to access a specific folder. Any Suggestions??

magic folders is alright, it hides the folder completly (there is an encypted verson) and only alows access with the right password

For real security, for example hiding evidence from the FBI/CIA/NSA/SS, strong encryption is the only option. In Linux, I have an entire 111Gb filesystem transparently encrypted with 256-bit twofish. I don't know if anything in Windows has even close to that fuctionality.

For slightly obscuring your data, for example, hiding porn from one's parents, magic folders will work fine. I'm not sure if their "encryption" is any more secure than the encryption on zip files, but it couldn't hurt.

ok looks like your running windows xp there. there is a way you can password protect and assign rights. first you must do this . go to folder options in windows explore, then at the far bottom disable the simple file sharing. then all you will have to do is right click on and assigne permissions.

NTFS file permissions don't help if you boot from a a floppy or CD that can read NTFS. There are some DOS programs to read NTFS, and many Linux CDs now have the capability buit-in. Preventing such disks from booting doesn't help, either, because one could always remove the hard drive and read it from another computer.
