Can someone tell me what is difference between Firewall server & Proxy server. If I already installed a firewall server for my company, do I still need to install a proxy server? Any contributions is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Check Point

Firewall protects your pc by closing certain ports, you know that already right?
Well there are 2 sorts of proxy servers you can connect to, non anonymous and anonymous.
Anonymous proxy servers are hard to find but what they do is hide your ip address and also supposedly speed up your web experience.
I don't know much on this subject but i have a firewall and tried this anonymous proxy server stuff and to be honest it takes up too much time trying to find a decent anonymous server, i haven't found 1 yet and if you do it may not last long anyway.
You can download Multiproxy for free which searches loads of proxy addresses for you to connect to and you can also buy a4proxy, i think that's the name which is supposedly better. But you constantly have to search for new proxy addresses and from my point of view by the time u find one you'll want to get away from your PC cos you have a major headache.

A proxy, which means 'on behalf of' can serve as a gateway, and can also cache web pages.
A firewall is just a proxy with rules as to what can go through, IE IP addresses, port numbers, and protocols ( TCP, UDP, ICMP)
If you have a firewall setup, then you dont need a proxy.
