Comment:

Can anyone tell me where to go for a good safe firewall test. I currently have my Gateway DSL Modem's Firewall set to high and am trying to test it to see if this is sufficent enough of a firewall or if I should get either a software firewall or router also. I tried to go to PC Flank and used their test but it didn't seem to work because I shut off the Modem's firewall to see what it would say and it said that i was completely protected. So where can i go to test firewalls to see if my DSL Modem i have is doing anything or not. thanks for the help.

Well for a good firewall you can try ZoneAlarm or Sygate which are free.

I use

http://scan.sygatetech.com/probe.html

as it's simple & gives immediate results, but may not give detailed results if it can scan your PC (It hasn't got through our firewall yet!)
