Hi,

I would like some assistance with Firewall-AntiVirus question.

I have norton antivirus & zone alarm for a firewall when my PC starts rtvscan.exe wants to load & asks to open windows explorer. I am not sure if i should allow it to do so or not. Looking on google i was able to find out that rtvscan.exe is a "real-time scanner" for norton antivirus & most websites say its ok nothing to be worried about.

The thing that i found odd is that how it wants to open windows explorer & i have an option of allow or deny if i pick deny i was reading that is greatly reduces the security of norton. Perhaps it is normal that is wants to open windows explorer to be able to work i don't know.

I am not sure what to do & like some opinions.

P.S

Any additional information that is required to answer this question i will be more then willing to give.

Thank you for your time.

"rtvscan.exe (RealTime scanner) - Details

The rtvscan.exe process constantly monitors your computer's running processes, accessed files and registry to detect virus activity. It is one of the core components to the virus protection offered by the Norton Antivirus scanning software and should not be stopped. If this process is stopped, Norton Antivirus will not be able to effectively protect your computer, and you run the risk of being infected by viruses, trojans and other malware.

rtvscan.exe is an application that does NOT appear to be a security risk

The Spy Bot database currently registers rtvscan.exe to Symantec.

This is part of Norton antivirus."

It is required, so Norton can be immediately available to when you go on line, also Norton must be able to get its updates.
