Hi, everyone!

Is it possible to get a firewall on Windows 98SE by downloading one from the internet? If so, what websites can I go on that won't leave my computer virus-ridden? I'm very cautious with what I download now.
You need a good defence if a trojan barges into your territory.

Suggest:
1. Firewall either Kerio from
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio-Download.cfm
or ZoneAlarm from
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

Both are free!

2. PLUS anti virus from
either AVG 7 from
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
or Avast from
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Again, both are free versions!

AND Anti trojan from
http://www.ewido.net/en/

TOGETHER with
1. AdAware SE from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

and
2. Spyware Blaster from
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

and
3. SpyBot Search & Destroy from
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

That lot should keep you pretty free from naughties BUT the best line of defence is YOU, the user!!! Don't visit dubious sites!!!

Thanx, Ray Peat!

I've already got AVG Free edition on my computer and I will have a look at those firewalls you sugested. However, that Trojan thing was actually my signature but thanx anyway. :)

Vi, also try http://www.oldversion.com/
they have some good firewalls there too that are still free.

Ray, your lineup looks good to me ( I know of 1 person that might disagree...not mentioning any names..LOL), maybe add Crap Cleaner and ATF-cleaner (both free) to your arsenal, great for cleaning out all the debris accumulated while surfing, and they also speed up your scans if you run them before the others.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Yeah - I only suggested ewido as part of a package of defence, Vi!
