It most likely will not cause any problems at all but if you are using ZA using XP's is kind of pointless.

Hi Pariah
Turn of sp2's firewall immediately.
Go to www.sygate.com and down their firewall it's brill. Uninstall Zone Alarm as there may be conflicts, first.
Run Adaware,Spybot,SpywareBlaster and CwShredder on a daily basis. Get all new updates on those and continue.
Avg is par for the course although I run Norton 04.
After that you should be laughing mate.

It’s an unfortunate world we live in…we have run all of these various protection programs…spam filters…anti virus…firewalls… The problem with running all of this stuff is that it slooooows your machine right down.

So, If you’re reeeeally serious about protection without speed problems, here’s what you do:

First, it all starts with your ISP. These cheap ‘get-a-deal’ ISP’s are garbage. They don’t give a crap what goes in and out of your machine, just so long as they get their ten bucks a month. Get yourself a reputable ISP. My ISP is expensive but they run some pretty sophisticated virus and Trojan filters than are constantly upated. They also run some pretty serious spam and ad filters than I can tailor to my liking. As a result, I would say that 98% of the crap is filtered out at the ISP level so my machine doesn’t even see it… with NO speed lost at all. I been with my ISP for 7 years now, I have never owned or run an anti virus program in that time, and I have yet to have a problem.

Second, use 2 firewalls, a software program like outpost or sygate, behind a hardware firewall like the electronic type that are built in to a router.

Third, Be smart when surfing the net. Avoid places like Yahoo, MSN… These are hotbeds for viruses and other crap.

Forth, be careful when you hand out your personal info. Be aware that when you do something like register a FREEWARE program…your setting yourself up for an on slot of junk mail!

In seven years I’ve never had a virus/Trojan and I rarely get junk mail….and I don’t run anti virus or spam programs
