Hi all here's the problems I'm having. I keep getting redirected to a bogus website when i try to access google. it gives what i figure is false repair info and a link to microsoft's website. that's my first problem. second, find4u website is making itself my home website without me doing anything. i ran spybot and repaired everything in red and installed spyblaster to hopefully protect myself in the future. i also installed and uninstalled the google taskbar as other people who are having similar problems i've read on other forums. here is my hijack this log, plaese help me if you can.

thanks,
Mike Hallam.

MIke,

Download and run CoolWebShredder

Reboot into safe mode ( tap away on F8 till it gets there) . Show hidden files and folders.
Search for and delete if present:

C:\WINDOWS\susp.exe

Reboot into normal space, repost your log.
It is often a good idea to turn off system restore before this journey, so you will lose your
adversaries; highjackers etc.

win min is indicative that something is still there…
[shep- I see abetterinternet has returned, but I don't see any active files present, lemme know if you come up with something.]

Mike,
be sure to close all browser windows & fix this one again:
O16 - DPF: {10000273-8230-4DD4-BE4F-6889D1E74167} - http://download.abetterinternet.com/download/cabs/TURB8105/turbo.cab

This one looks definitely dodgy:
O16 - DPF: {C1C2AC28-5E4B-4228-B7A0-05E986FFCE14} (TIBSLoader Class) - http://www.movie-browser.com/tl4000.dll

and this one is suspicious:
O16 - DPF: {75D1F3B2-2A21-11D7-97B9-0010DC2A6243} (SecureLogin.SecureControl) - http://secure2.comned.com/signuptemplates/ActiveSecurity.cab
Do you have anything connected to secure2.comned.com?
Repost again after this.

Just to check, as shep has advised,
Make sure "show hidden files" is checked in Folder Options > View and run a file search for 'winlogon' and post any results.
[C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe << this one is ok!]

Mike,

You did a good job of cleaning things up.
I don't see anything amiss, unless iceblue spots something.

The winlogon entries that you show are the good guys.

That logs looks clean, Mike.
And I keep finding the more I learn,
the less I seem to know....

There always seems to be another question lurking...for instance...why are there two prefetch files in that log...<grins>
That prefetch folder can be cleared out regularly without problem, any files will be replaced when needed.

shep/ice, I have same setup/system and problem as mike but my hijack log is a little different. I wonder if this is the culprit but I couldn't delete it (O2 - BHO: BabeIE). Anyway, here's my hijack log. Any help you cab provide is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

Gday Tom,

Could I get you to Open a New Topic for this log? Do the following stuff and then paste the new log in a 'new topic'. Thanks.

First – please download and run Spybot Search & Destroy;

Spybot Search and Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org
Short tutorial and download from here:
http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/

*check for updates*; and then scan,
and fix all RED items that Spybot finds.
Reboot when done.

Then, >>> CWS Cool Web Search Removal Process

Download and run a new update of CWShredder.exe from one of the following;

CWShredder.exe
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/junk/CWShredder.exe
and click ‘Open’ click “Next”; (obtain a new version for each run; there is a recent update)
The full story on CWS:
New address: http://www.merijn.org/cwschronicles.html
Make sure that you have the latest version of CWShredder, and that you click “Next”
and don't just scan only.
