Comment:

Got stung by some Adware. Have diligently used Symantec and kept my definitions up-to-date but in the last 48 hrs. got a warning about a Trojan (Black Belt.exe). For the Adware, today I ran Spybot S&D, Adaware 6, BHOdemon, and CWS Shredder, before running Hijackthis. Also tried something called Trojan Remover.

Two questions:
1. Would someone please review my hijack log for other bad things.

2. What can I do about Black Belt? Symantec sees the infection but I have not found any removal tool or procedure. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Run HT again and check the following items. Doublecheck so as to be sure not to miss one.
Next, close all browser Windows, and have HT 'fix checked'.

You Must restart your computer when you're done.

After restarting delete the following:

C:\WINNT\system32\expup.exe
C:\WINNT\Belt.exe

Tom41,

Let me start by expressing my gratitude for your help and guidance. I have already seen my machine performance improve. (Also felt good to see all those little buggers get deleted!) I followed your instructions, completed the HT fix check and rebooted. All was well. I let the machine sit idle for the day to see what, if any thing, would happen. I ran the update for Ad Aware and scanned it again only to find 35 more items including stuff from gator. Unclear if the latest version of Ad Aware caught the new stuff by virtue of its new code/filter or if there were that many more malicious "infections" during the day.

Below please see my latest HT log. Anything else I need to do?

Michael
