Hi everyone, I have contracted a very annoying worm. My system is constantly overtaxed, with fake "windows security center" and "spyguard 2009" popups constantly taking over my desktop. I have tried running both "ad-aware" and "smitfraudfix" with no results. Can you folks help? Thanks!

Run Superantispyware http://www.superantispyware.com and malwarebyes antimalware http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and this should take care of it.

Thanks,

Chris

I believe I had the same exact problem, if it
brings up your internet (Internet Explorer
specifically) then what you need to do is go
to the program files in the C:/ disk and find
the internet explorer file and use either a
File Shredder or The command prompt to delete
it. But before you do that, get an alternate
web browser (I.e Google Chrome, Firefox
ect..) because when you try to delete IE it
will appear up because it brings in the
backup file of internet explorer which to my
knowledge does not work but it might.

Note: Your computer did contract a virus but,
it only screwed up Internet Explorer and went
away. So now it is an issue with internet
explorer. So when you delete it, it brings in
the backup IE which is not infected or
screwed up.

That worked! Thanks so much for your help. I'd actually never heard of super antispyware, but it did the job without having to use the other program. Do you recommend still running the other program? Would that do anything else to help?

Thanks again!

Yes run the other program (Malwarebytes Antimalware) to clean up the remnants as well as to double check that there are no more threats, Nothing is perfect so a double check is good. Glad it worked for you. You can run the free SAS once in a while or better yet purchase the pro version for realtime protection and hopefully it will keep you from getting infected again.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,

Spyware Guard 2009 is a fake rogue spyware. It uses scare tactics to frighten users and force them into buying Spyware Guard2009. Obviously it must be removed, not purchased. To remove this parasite you need to deleted files which comes with this rogue. Files list can be found here: http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-spy...

Good luck!
