Usually they are picked up through surfing at or near pron sites. They set up a file on your PC to dial out to a toll phone number for sex stuff, thus you will incur phone charges, usually big bills, etc. You search for them in your msconfig and registry and search function areas. Use soemthing like AD Aware to search also. And maybe SWAT IT from www.lockdowncorp.com which is a trojan scanner.

So. I have found suspicious dialer programs on my puter and deleted them. I found them using reg cleaner. My question is, I'm hooked up to broadband with a cisco 675 and a NIC card. Can these dialers HURT me? Do these peograms use dial up networking? I have a V90 modem some where in my case, still hooked up. Shoud I remove it?

If YOU did NOT install the dialer program and you are NOT going to use the program, I would either UNINSTALL or DELETE the program. RegCleaner is very good.
