Explorer.exe infected and Google redirects

Specs: Windows XP
I am having a lot of problems trying to remove malware from my system. Initially, I managed to catch Security Suite and removed it from my computer.

However, now, I have a problem with Google redirection in both IE8 and FF (though much more in IE8). I tried to run MBAM, TDSSKiller, and Spybot and none of them found any problem. McAfee also did not find any problems...

I did run Hitman Pro and it told me that C:\Windows\explorer.exe was infected but couldn't fix the problem.

I then ran Combofix several times. Each time I was told that explorer.exe was infected and that C:\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe was infected. Even when it said it disinfected these two files, I still get redirects. I ran Hitman Pro again, and it told me explorer.exe is still infected.

This problem is getting very annoying. Is there anything you would suggest? Are there any other tools I should try? I am almost to the point of re-installing XP (the recovery disks I got from Acer only have the full re-install option) but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

you would not want to do anything but a wipe/reinstall. Repair install would fail to prevent the payload from being dropped again.

If you have any OEM XP disk, the product key on your box/laptop will allow you to install clean, and for that matter, do repair installs. But don't do the repair install - it will be a waste of time.

Hitman Pro 3.5 was just updated to build 110 which has now full support for removing this nasty trojan. Just run Hitman Pro again so it will update to the latest build.
