Hi, so I read about the huge security breach Microsoft had and decided to download their security patch yesterday... big mistake. I don't know what happened, but my computer has gone berzerk! I really cannot do much on it (I'm on my bro's comp now), it is extremely bogged down. Between restarts I'm lucky if I can execute 2 or three programs before a freeze. alt + ctrl + delete shows explorer is not responding.
Also about a bazillion new spyware things have popped up on my desktop and I hvae a fair amount of unknown programs in my starter uppers. Using moosoft's Cleaner, I removed a few trojans, but Norton isnt finding anything. Any help or explanation would be great! I'm thinking about reformating; system restore didn't work =/
thanks for your time

To check whether you are virus free go to F-Prot.com They have an anti-virus program that you can download that fits on a floppy. Boot on a Win98 boot disk to an A: prompt and then put in the F-Prot disk and type f-prot.exe c: You can get the W98 bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com Then you need to clean your OS from the spyware. Download CWShredder from http://www.spychecker.com/program/cwshredder.html, Spybot from http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download and Adaware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/. Run them while offline and in SAFE boot mode. Delete the red entries that Spybot displays. If you are not sure of any of the above procedures send me an email. Good luck.
