Where exactly is the virus located?

If it is in C:\system volume information\_restore\odd looking number.exe; that is your system restore folder.
Windows locks that folder from any modification by programs (or us) including antivirus.
The only way to remove it is disable system restore, reboot, scan, if all clean...turn on system restore again.

*note*

the following action will delete all restore points and the virus. A new restore point is made whenyou re-enable it.

Heres how:

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If that is not where it is...tell me the exact path to the virus, then I can help.

Not sure of the path you have specified but guessing it is in temporary internet files.
Right click IE on desktop.
Click properties.
Click the delete files button.
When next window pops up check the delete all offline content box.
click ok.
It will likely take a few minuites.

That action just deletes all your temporary internet files.

If you cant get to IE properties from desktop you can get there from internet options applet in control panel.

Temporary internet files should be deleted on a regular basis.

I too have been infected with the Exploit-CodeBase.gen virus and McAffee 6.02 cannot clean it. It is in C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Applicaton\Mozilla\Profiles\klwillett and only pops up when I load Netscape 7.1. Any help would be appreciated.
