My computer has been running extremely slowly, so I ran a McAfee virus scan. It detected the exploit byte verify trojan, but could not delete or clean it. I couldn't find the infected file.
I then ran both Ad-aware and Spybot, which got rid of a bunch of stuff, but not the trojan.
Searching the messages here, I found Panda, and ran a scan there, which also found exploit byte verify, in three files, but also could not disinfect them. Again, I cannot find the files.
I have clicked on several links to removal instructions, but they are way over my head. Can someone please tell me, step-by-step, in plain English, how to get rid of this?
Thank you for any help you can give me.

Right click My Computer/then click properties then click the system restore tab and turn off system restore
Then Reboot your computer and when it starts booting up start tapping the F8 key continually and choose safe mode.
When in safe mode run a full system scan and remove all entries detected as Trojan.ByteVerify then reboot and run another scanIf this doesnt work download and run PREVX1 in safe mode
When it is cleared out turn your system restore back on
