I have an virus with exploer.exe

I look around a lot of places but i am unable to get rid of it. AVG doesn't even recognise it and Norton Antivirus does, but the virus scan stop after only a few seconds and so it never gets to detect it

Tiny Personal Firewall keeps telling me to do something about it and ad-ware doesn't detect it either. Please advise

Thank you

u have tons of armour at your disposal so heres some steps to insure your safetly

1. download nod32 simply the best av around.
www.nod32.com

2. run it or norton in safe mode make sure either one u choose is uptodate....getting to safe mode is easy...once u turn on your computer press f8 until u seen startup menu with safe mode. click it.....log in under admin. and run your av of your choice.

3. make sure your system restore is turn off.. trojans virus hides in there so these programs can copy itself back into your system

short answers to your question so try these first..if u still have probs..just repost

Update. I now have managed to do a full system scan with norton. It detected nothing. It has been fully updated to the lastest definitions (although i beleive this problem is quite old).

I know there is something wrong becuase of the errors im getting im my first post. Also since installing norton ive been getting lots of messages telling me about the same virus alert but not during a scan with message
'Source: C:\WINDOWS\System32\exploer.exe
Click for more information about this virus : Keylogger.Trojan'
So i click where it says for more infomation.

Someone else on the forums tells me http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/114424.html
the exact variation of the virus

So i attempt the following removeal instructions which are

1)Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
2)Update the virus definitions.
3)Do one of the following:
Windows 95/98/Me: Restart the computer in Safe mode.
Windows NT/2000/XP: End the Worm process.
4)Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as W32.HLLW.Gaobot.BV.
5)Reverse the changes that the Trojan made to the registry.

1) done, 2) done, 3) there were no processess to delete, 4) full system scan by norton detected nothing, 5) registry keys that it said to edit/delete dont exist

ps. i did download and began insalling nod32 but it wanted me to uninstall all other virus software which would include AVG, norton and ad-aware and i dony really want to do that.

I still need quite a bit of help i think.

Thank you

Uninstall the others, then setup and scan with your new AV. Once everything is straightened out, don't reinstall the other AV programs.
