exe files won't run

January 18, 2011 at 08:31:14
Specs: Windows 7
It happen to me. I downloaded a file and all of my exe files were wiped out. All icons on desktop and startup menu were replaced with fake adobe pdf icons. Could not execute a system restore from the control panel! However, from the hidden task manager I could run my anti- virus software. Although it did remove many contaminants, I then performed a system restore BEFORE windows start up. I have an HP and on start up at the bottom of the screen prior there are pf-key commands of of them is pf11 system restore. I was able to restore my system without the b---tard virus. You may want to restart you system again to allow windows to reset the desktop and start up icons. If you dont have an HP your computer should offer the same pf-key help before start up. Also, be sure to place or pin a short cut to your task bar of your anti virus and malware programs. Seems the little buggers can't get to what they can't see. Even though my anti-virus exe file (looked currupted adobe icon on it) when I went to the task bar I could run it. By the way I'm using Trend Micro and malware bytes. Trend Micro is the best. I like it much better than McAfee and Norton. My OS is windows 7 32bit

"...If you dont have an HP your computer should offer the same pf-key help before start up..."

... that's not the case "tennisis4u" as this all depends on an existing recovery partition and the model/make of the pc, it'll be "different strokes for different folks" and not the <F11> <key> as was your wishful thinking!
