I've used AVG Antivirus (from grisoft.com)for over a year now, and it's been great. Last Saturday morning, howeever, I woke up to it detecting the "HIDRAG" virus on my machine. I let it run, and it found 564 instances of the virus. It seems to have infected most, if not all, of my executables. AVG was unable to heal/clean them, and asked if I'd like to move them to the "virus vault". Although not thrilled about this, I said yes out of desperation, to which it said that it was uanble to move the selected files to the virus vault. I'm going NUTS here. I looked up HIDRAG, and it looks as if it's supposed to be relatively harmless, yet AVG keeps finding it and my computer is in a shambles as I can't run my .exe files! When I attempt to run them I get a message about being unable to run this file and possibly not having permissions...(sorry guys..I hate being vague, but I'm on my work computer now..since the home comp is wrecked) I tried evals or Norton's and MCafee.. Norton's found nothing (??) and MCafee found 2 instances of a totally different virus (which I didn't write down..who knew?)..and then stopped running , as the executable got hit (as did AVG finally). Please HELP!!! Ignoring the virus momentarilly, I found the program "exefix08" to possibly repair the executables..but it doesn't run in XP. Sigh. Once again..Please HELP.
