Hi,
I dl'ed Ad Aware and it found Eudora\EudPriv\Ads\AdCache but I can't permanently delete it. Is there a way to do this?
Also, it keeps finding fastclick txt files that I keep deleting too but now have come back.
How do I know where these files come from (besides Eudora of course) Thanks a bunch! :)

You mentioned Cydoor and fastclick.Cydoor is spyware.Fast click is an ad-related cookie. They are an ad server. You are using Adaware.Have you updated it so that you have the latest version? You download ref-file to ref-update.That's how updates work on Adaware. One other alternative program that's also free and has been a good tool for me is Spybot search and destroy. You can have both Adaware and Spybot.A lot of people use one as back-up for the other.Run one, then when you're done with that, check with the other to make sure nothing is missed. If you want to try Spybot go to www.lurkhere.com.There is a review on it.The download is in the "nice files".You have to update that program right away also.online tab>search for updates>download updates.Updates may take a while to download.(I usually ignore the registry detections)It has a back-up feature that is automatic.Hope this helps ya.JB

You say that Cydoor is found in Eudora?I don't know a lot about Eudora. It's probably ad-supported.Meaning if you remove Cydoor, you won't be able to use Eudora for free.Check out Eudora's home page and look under EULA or privacy section. They will mention ad-support,privacy policy somewhere.A lot of times these services will list Cydoor somewhere. If that is the case, you have to decide whether you want to use Eudora or not.Regards.JB

This is normal if using Eudora . It is ad supported when using for free , you might get rid of it if you used the paid version but that's no guarantee . I see it even in "light mode" and yes it does come back if you get rid of it using adaware . I think it's just their way of sending the ads to your computer , I wouldn't worry too much about it .

Cydoor is also a result of downloading Kazaa. Cydoor and Brilliant Digital Entertainment are closely related in the adware world. Another post in here tells you how to delete BDE without losing Kazaa and Ad-Aware should help you delete some of cydoor without loss of program. Another small program to use is called "spystopper". It blocks alot of the bs before it even comes in. Hope this helps and good luck.

The Adcache directory in Eudora is not Cydoor or Aureate spyware/adware. The numbnuts at Qualcomm made their own ad software and used the same folder name "Adcache" as Cydoor.
Just remove the directory and make 2 new files called Adcache and Ads in that directory.
And a note on Kazaa, you should get Kazaa Lite which is a adware/spyware free version of Kazaa. Everything is the same software and function wise.

CORRECTION
Nevermind, Eudora will crash if you create those two files.
Looks like the thing to do is add it to your ignore list in Ad Aware.
As I mentioned, there are no registry keys or cydoor software associated. It's just a case of bad folder naming on Qualcomm's part.
