I got an email telling me I should upgrade to v7. All versions PRIOR to 6.2 would no longer be supported. Although I did have 6.2 I decided to upgrade anyway.

V6.2 did a complete system scan in less than a half-hour.

V7.0 has been running for 3 hours and it's still not finished.

I have email scanning turned off (I use web mail) and I do not have it set to monitor my system. (I.e., it only runs when I initiate a scan, which the same way I had it set in 6.2)

There's 3.8GB used on a 20 GB drive, same amount of data scanned in 6.2 & 7.0. There's nothing new running in the background.

What could possibly be the cause? Everything is fine except this program.

Info anyone?

My scanning time did not change, when I did the upgrade. Is this the initial scan that Etrust does when it is first installed? I think I would try uninstalling, and then try using another download from Computer Associates to install version 7. Maybe something was corrupted.

Yeh, re-install. I've had v7 since it first came out, no prob. One thing I recommend is completely uninstalling old version, including registry entries, before installing new version

I am having problems uninstalling the old eTrust component before installing EZ Antivirus due to the exisitiing uninstall files being "corrupt". Also, XP home won't let me delete the CA folder.

This leaves me in a bit of a vicious circle, because the installed says it can't install while the old files are in place.

Any ideas?

Yours,
iceknight
