Long story short - I have etrust 7.1.92 installed on my pc is this a beta version? Has anyone downloaded this and uninstall it? If so, how did it go? This version was put on my pc w/o my consent and my etrust subscription will be coming up for renewal soon. The last time I uninstalled ez 6.3 I crashed so any info would be great! Thanks.

Just 2 weeks or so ago, I went into my membership area on eTrust and updated to the latest version: 7.0.5.3. Haven't had any problems with it at all. The previous version was buggy with my XP Home, sp2, in that it would disable its real time monitoring at times. This version fixed that.

JohnO, at one time etrust gave you an option to download what version you wanted. How did you get 7.0.5.3? Does it just give you the most recent version when you click on renewit or downloadnow? I had problems recent/past with getting the version I wanted.

Here's how I remember it: Go to the eTrust home page, and log into your account. I think there are two ways in there to do it. One of them is go to the latest AV version you have downloaded, and there will be a place there to click on Upgrade. The other way is to go to the Ask Sammy character, and type in upgrade AV. Every time I've gone to the eTrust site it's been a little different, and it takes a little while to work through the maze. They don't really give you a choice of versions. The 7.0.5.3 was the latest version when I upgraded. It never offered me a BETA.

Colors-- When I booted up today, eTrust again showed Real Time protection disabled, and I could not re-enable it. For some reason I looked at Log Viewer, and it showed my scan from a few days ago as having failed all the way through, even though scans run normally. I uninstalled, cleaned it out of the registry, and reinstalled and upgraded the definitions. It showed real time scanning as enabled. I ran a scan, which ran normally. I then looked at Log Viewer and it showed all the way through that the scan had failed. I've used this program for at least three years, but I've lost all confidence in it. Their tech support told me about 6 weeks ago that they had a known problem, and it would be fixed in this latest version, but......??? So even though I have 7 months left on this renewal, I'm dropping it and buying something else.

Thanks for coming back to my post.

Boy, you got me worried!

CA's site is "NOT" customer friendly!!!

I could not get the Tech who downloaded 7.1 to tell me where he got it from?? I wonder if it was the year free version that is gone from there home page.

7.1 has a new look and more options - and seems to be running okay.

Real time monitor is on
Manual updates working
8851 last update
Full system scan started 12.31.37 ended 12.39.44
Regular files scanned 9800
Compressed files scanned 80
Files in compressed files scanned 10850

When I went into start - programs - windows explorer - program files - CA folder:
I have two folders - eTrust and shared components - worried about this?

My pc doesn't bootup/shutdown as it did before (6yrs) I don't know if it's etrust or changes that the tech did in my startup? Very upset about this!!!

What virus protection will you goto? I recently tried avast and antivir and went back to etrust.

Heard good things about Avast, and put the free trial on this morning. I'll use it for a month, and if no problems, I'll more than likely buy it.
