For some reason I have an establsihed connection thru port 443.

http://www.paygateway.com/tech/references/443.html

When I connect to the above link I get the "HTTP GET Requests not accepted" message.

My computer has been idle for the past 5 hours. Why would a conection like this occur? Also, I have 128 bit encryption installed. I'm running ZAP and when I tested my ports 443 was stealthed.

When I enter the IP addy that is reported to be connected thru 443, I get the website of whatever my browesr is conected to...Obviously I have the same connection thru port 80.

I just dont understand this crap and I've never noticed it before. I'm always checking my connections.

Can someone shed some light here?

Is this a concern?

On the Internet, port often refers to a number that is part of a URL, appearing after a colon (:) right after the domain name. Every service on an Internet server listens on a particular port number on that server. Typically, the nonsecure server instance is on port 80, which is the default port for http:// connections; and the secure server instance is on port 443, which is the default port for https:// connections. The 's' in the https://prefix identifies it as SSL (Secure Socket Layer), port 443, unless otherwise noted. Since these port numbers are the standard defaults, the port number does not need to be displayed within the URL. For more information on the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology search www.google.com

Just as the "http" specification on a URL goes to port 80 by default, the SSL "https" URL specification goes to port 443 when the port number is omitted. Although any port number can be defined as an SSL port, port 443 is the preferred SSL port number.

Have you made any "secure" financial transactions, merchandise ordering, banking, etc on your PC to the Web recently?
