I had a virus and cleaned it up but when I boot up, I get an error message that reads: Cannot import C:\WINDOWS\sp.reg: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error. I went into MSCONFIG to turn off sp.regit but I don't know what that will do? It is only a temporary solution. What does sp.regit do? Do I need sp.regit? If so, how do I fix the problem?
Never heard of sp.regit, could have been left over from the virus you had before. Run another virus scan at www.housecall.antivirus.com and also a registry editor/cleaner like REG CLEAN from www.jv16.org could be helpful here, as it wil saw you a much listing of your drives contents, in START UP and INSTALLED SOFTWARE and you can UNINSTALL from REG CLEANER also, but be careful, as anything with the registry can be harmful, even accidently.
