Every time i try to shut down or log off, I get "End Program - explorer.exe", see picture:

I've found that if I log off/shut down as soon as i am logged in, I don't get this problem, but as soon as I run any program I'll get the error when I next log off. I've done scans with AdAware and Spybot S&D, but they don't stop it. I've also removed all startup items through msconfig. No suspicious processes seem to be running. I can't work out whats going on.
Any ideas?

Probably a program is hanging on in memory.

This should stop that message.

39. How to improve on shutdown time?

Close apps automatically & quickly at shutdown.
Open Registry by going to START-RUN and typing REGEDIT. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP and look for AutoEndTasks. Default value is 0. Change it to 1.

Thanks Johnw

I've seen complicated Hijack methods of getting rid of this. Yours is much simpler.
Why is the default set to 0 if it can cause this?
