Comment: Every time i try to shut down or log off, I get "End Program - explorer.exe", see picture: http://www.geocities.com/wozig/endprogram.JPG I've found that if I log off/shut down as soon as i am logged in, I don't get this problem, but as soon as I run any program I'll get the error when I next log off. I've done scans with AdAware and Spybot S&D, but they don't stop it. I've also removed all startup items through msconfig. No suspicious processes seem to be running. I can't work out whats going on. Any ideas?

Reply: (edit)Probably a program is hanging on in memory. This should stop that message. 39. How to improve on shutdown time? http://www.xptuneup.com/tip0050.htm Close apps automatically & quickly at shutdown. Open Registry by going to START-RUN and typing REGEDIT. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP and look for AutoEndTasks. Default value is 0. Change it to 1.

Reply: (edit)Thanks Johnw I've seen complicated Hijack methods of getting rid of this. Yours is much simpler. Why is the default set to 0 if it can cause this?
