Reply: (edit)What email account POP3, Yahoo, Hotmail? Are you expecting to receive an email with an attachment from a friend? This attachment almost fits the perfect size of a virus package. I use Yahoo, and these are screened out to eliminate these nasties from reaching me. That is why I stay away from Outlook Express/Outlook. With any luck, you are being protected the same way. All the best!

Reply: (edit)A few people on this site have received such E-mail's including me. (167kb) I sent an E-mail to Hotmail to ask what is this all about and their reply was ... can't help you. Thanks for that ! I have E-mailed Symantec to see if they know what is happening. If you search this site you will find more references. The best theory I have heard so far is the virus scanning as done automatically by Hotmail (and probably other providers) is stripping out the virus and sending on what is left. If you use Outlook Express, it may be an idea to dis-able the preview pane - VIEW - LAYOUT - don't SHOW PREVIEW PANE. I'm told the KLEZ virus can infect a PC just by being in this preview pane, it does not have to be opened ! If you have received this virus via your Yahoo account it is only a matter of time before you receive the same in your other accounts. I will report back what Symantec's reply is.

Reply: (edit)i put a post somewhere else, asking about the same thing, (sorry!!) and i obviously have no idea. Michael, you said something about the worm being able to infect with just being opened in the preview window, i thought this was true with ALL viruses / worms, Personally, i stay WELL AWAY from outlook....it's evil......:-)
