email with outlook

Specs: Windows XP
I have Optimum Online with Outlook Express6. Been using it for 3 years. All of a sudden, I can't send to other Optimum Members, and can't send to myself. There are no errors, the email goes to my sent email box, and shows all signs of being sent.(no errors), but they are not going anywhere. Optimum said it may be a virus stealing my email addresses. I've run Symantec, AVG, and Spyware Terminator only to find nothing. Someone please help figure this out for me. I don't want to have to re-install Windows XP.

thanx in advance... Romeo

Go to the optonline web page and sign in to your account. Send an email to one of your friends and call them to see if they received it.

That will tell you if it's an outlook problem or an account problem.

I should have said it before, it DOES work from the Optimum page. I believe the problem is with Outlook. I've had a few "Geeks" (no offense to anyone) look at it, and couldn't figure it out. Why would it stop working all of a sudden? Also, this is my Laptop, I also have the same problem from my desktop. That's just too much of a coincidence, that both Outlooks could have gone bad. While on with tech support 1 of the few times, we downloaded another mail program,(Thunderbird) I think it was called, and still the same problem. I still think this problem is with Optimum.

If you have the same problem on both PCs, my guess is that there was an update that killed it.

Hey guys and girls, thanx for your help. I finally got someone in Optimum Tech Support to suggest bypassing the router, because I was using my Laptop wireless. When plugging directly into the modem it all worked again. It turned out that all I needed was a software upgrade for my router. So after about 1 hour with LINKSYS Tech Support The problem was rectified. Thanx again all.

I would have never thought the router was stopping the emails. Something to keep in mind...
