Just a quick question about email viruses. Is is possible for your computer to be infected by an email virus just by opening the email, or is it necessary to download the attachment or follow a link? The question just popped into my head and I was wondering what the answer was. Thanks in advance for any information.

There was a period when an embedded javascript or ActiveX control could download and install further malicious programming on your computer, but today's e-mail client programs are designed not to let malicious scripting in e-mails to run just from viewing an e-mail.
