Comment: I have microsoft outlook express. I can no longer delete my emails they will not go away. A tech said I had this virus. How do I get rid of it? Please help!!! All my virus scans do not detect a virus. What exactly does this virus do to your systems? Everything else is working fine for now.

Reply: (edit)You can go to TrendMicro.com and do the on-line scan(House Call). That should tell you if you have the virus. If you have Klez virus, there are removal tools available at various web-sites.wilders.org may have one under the free tools section.Symantec.com(the makers of Norton Anti-virus programs) may have an online scan and removal tool also.Good Luck.JB

Reply: (edit)The best removal tools are at the Symantec or Webattack(specialized removal tools) websites. You can use the scans at Trend Micro, Symantec and Mcafee to detect the virus. One of the things the KLEZ does is disable your antivirus software. Make sure you disble "system restore" to remove the virus. The virus files are identified by wink.exe. Take care and all the best!

Reply: (edit)What firewall do you use? Check the settings for Outlook Express. Open Outlook Express>Tools>Options>Maintenance and use clean up now. I have all these settings blank. Then go to security and make sure you have restricted, warm me and do not allow selected. Then go to read and disable the preview pane. Then select view and select layout and disable the preview pane. Check your account setting to make sure there are no changes to it. If you still cannot delete the old email try a anti trojan program like Agnitum's Tauscan for a 30 day trial. All the best!
