Hi! I hope that someone out there would know the answer to this question. Just recently over the weekend it seems as though I had some sort of virus, trojan or worm in my computer. I found this out because I was blocked from signing on to AOL and I had to call them to see why. They told me that it was because one of the screen names on my account had sent out over 300 e-mails in approximatly 3 minutes. I knew that the person did not send the e-mails so I scanned my computer and it didn't show anything. To be safe I wiped out my HD and reinstalled everything. I checked one of the e-mails that was sent and it didn't have a "from" field listed just a "to" with alot of screen names that resembled each other (t, t2, t11,tee and so on) Any ideas on what this was???

Most likely, you have nothing to do with all that situation.
It's called email "spoofing".
Someone, who has your address in his/her address book is infected with some trojan, which uses your email address to send those messages.

broni, Thanks for the info. I read the "spoofing" article. It made sense as to what happened. But I still have questions about it. It was my brother's screen name and he was going to Love@aol. I opened one of the e-mails that was sent under his name and there were links in it. (man meet a woman, woman meet a man and so on) That's why I thought I had the virus because it seemed to be associated with the Love@aol. As for the article on spoofing I put it in my favorites just to have on hand. Thanks for the link to it.

Michelle
Just don't worry abou it. Your brother's email address means nothing here.
As millions of other people, you have a bunch of names in your Address Book, so your friends.
You won't be able to trace a culprit.
I don't like AOL, but same thing has happened to my ex-wife. We called them, explained situation, and they reestablished sending rights.
There are some things beyond your control, being on the Net. If your ISP understands it, fine. If they don't, change ISP.

Thanks broni, for the help. AOL did understand the problem and fixed the sending rights.
