Specs: Windows 7
My system is at least 4 years old and for the past month or so has been giving me some issues. It's had this kernal data inpage error that has caused it to restart itself randomly. When my computer would restart, the image would have a pinkish hue to it that would fade to normal by the time the computer fully booted up. Now, I was just randomly surfing the internet and the screen went black completely. I researched to see if anyone else had similar problems and found a fix. Pressing Fn + F6 turns the display on/off. When it turned it back on, it came back for a second then went black again. I tried this a few times then tried to turn down the brightness when I got it to come back on. That has worked so far. I can still use my machine, it's just on one of the lowest brightness settings. Anyone have any idea what I need to do to fix this? Thanks!

I doubt if it is anything to do with security. Pinkish hue can be lack of green signal.

Most likely the connection between the motherboard and screen. Move the lid down slowly to nearly closed and see if anything changes. If so it could be the cable has failed due to hinge use. Sometimes the connectors either end can work loose too.

There are other possibilities such has the display module or the screen itself.

I suspect your error is a completely different fault.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

After trying Derek's possibles, run chkdsk.

1: Go to Start > Run, Copy & Paste > cmd & press > Enter.
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
2: Copy & Paste > chkdsk /f /r & press > Enter.
3: Type y & press > Enter.
4: Reboot.
