e,exe started opening exponentially

Hi,
I was surfing the interent. When Adobe Acrobat Opened on its own. It never loaded anything but it showed the start screen. Anyways, I opened the task manager after this happened, and i saw e.exe exponetially opening. I killed the power to my computer by the time that it got to around 400 programs opened. Then on the restart, it went to a screen that looked like the windows install screen and did a 3 step check were, it looked at all my regerisry files. Then it booted windows. since then i have not been able to tell that there is anything wrong with my computer. does anyone know what happened?
