My computer recently began running slowly and randomly playing a sound effect, which whenever it plays does so 3 times in a row. Whatever it is, Avast did not catch it, and has been unable to detect it. I wanted to try to install AVG to see if it would catch it, but I can't get it to install. I can't really find any suspect processes, but something weird is definitely going on. The only thing other than the slowness and sound that has happened is earlier this evening it shrunk my firefox window and popped up one of those notices saying my computer is running slow and to go to such and such a website to fix it, that was "easywebchecklive.com", googling that did not turn up anything useful for me. This seems to be something new, so I'm hoping someone here can help me.
