You may have to disable system restore, reboot and then scan. Turn on sys restore after it's fixed.

Did you also immunize your PC?
how about Spyware Blaster

Also, maybe try Stinger
That should do the trick for you. Post back

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

i restarted my computer and checked for the same problem and its still showing up..I got all the latest security uptades from microsoft, Spyware blaster and spybot S&D..i immunized....but it still shows up...I don't know what to do...here i read the link it says that if you got all the latest patches and security uptades it shouldn't be a problem, its something to do with spybot S&D and it suggests just go to advanced settings and check to ignore dso exploits....I'm not sure about that, because it may be new ones in the future.... if you have any suggestions i'll appriatiate very much
thanks

What version of Spybot S&D are you running?
The latest version is 1.4. There was a bug in 1.3 that identified DSO Exploit (false postive), and when you cleaned it it came back. Version 1.4 fixed this.

I went to get the update for Spybot S&D tonight (or I should say this morning now) and then ran the program and it came up with that DOS Exploit too. So I checked my version of Spybot S&D and I had the 1.3.

Anyway I got the version 1.4 istalled now. I had forgotten to uninstall the 1.3 before installing the 1.4, so I uninstalled in the add/remove program and reinstalled the new one then.

I remember in version 1.3 that the DOS Exploit was fixed a long time ago and did not show up in any of the scans until tonight when I ran it.

BUT!!!
I ran a scan tonight with the version 1.4 and it also came up with the DOS Exploit. I have the Windows XP Pro Media Eddition.

Is this just like the one in the older version or is this something new? Should we be worried?

I'm not ignorant, I just need more learning!

I had DSO Exploit for the last couple of years with no effect, I suspect it is actually identifying a loophole in XP not a virus, anyway, I have just realised that after SP2 it has disappeared so maybe M$ closed the loophole with SP2

I had the same thing show up again on my W98SE. There are a few discussions about this on the spybot forum.
