I was downloading from a website and my Norton's AV popped up a window stating:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\SPEJSDUB\ScriptBodyJsp[1].htm
is infected with the Download.Trojan virus.
Unable to repair this file.

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\SPEJSDUB\ScriptBodyJsp[1].htm
is infected with the Download.Trojan virus.
Access to the file was denied.

I deleted all the Temporary Internet files including all offline content.

I turned off System Restore and booted Windows in Safe Mode, scanned my computer and Norton did not detect the Download.Trojan virus.

I used Ad-aware and Spybot and they did not detect any viruses.

I went to trojanscan.com/trojanscan and no viruses were detected.

I used F-Prot AV and it did not detect any viruses but it was unable to scan the file "pagefile.sys" It said: "File not accessible, it is being used by another person or program".

Could I have deleted the virus file when I deleted the temporary internet files?

What other options are there?

If I format the computer, will the virus file still be in the computer?

Thanks in advance!

There is no reason to reformat. I do have a question from your post, are you using F-Prot or Norton? Were both antivirus programs used while you were in the safe mode? Other than using two antivirus programs the steps you took would normally get rid of the problem that you had. Adaware/Spybot are used for spyware/malware, which is a separate problem than a virus/trojan/worm. I also use Spywareblaster from http://wilders,org/. They do not replace antivirus or antitrojan software. Norton supposedly has anti-malware components built into NAV2004. I have not found it to be very effective compared to Adaware. To test your system go to http://www.pcpitstop.com/ use the performance test and pay special attention to the security settings part of the test. They do have an auto fix, should your system fail the security test.

hey capt!

Thanks for responding.

I am using Norton AntiVirus 2002. I used Norton in safe mode and it did not detect the "download.trojan" file or any other viruses. However when I opened the program in safe mode, the Auto-Protect and Email Scanning options were both off when they are normally enabled and on. Could it be that the program was running in safe mode that's why it wasn't working properly?

I ran F-Prot after using Norton, but I don't remember if I disabled Norton when I ran F-Prot and I did not run it in safe mode. Should I disable Norton when running F-Prot and vice versa? Also, can I keep both Norton and F-prot on my computer?

I used AVG AntiVirus and Trojan Remover, but both programs did not detect any viruses.

I use Spybot with Spywareblaster, but I'm not sure if I am suppose to delete all the files they detect?

I will definitely go to the website you recommended and check on my system. I'm just afraid that the trojan/virus is still on my computer because all those programs could not detect/delete the file. Could the file be under a different name? Could it have renamed itself?

I did read in another message that Norton calls many threats "download.trojan" and the website I visisted probably had one of those treats. I hope Norton stopped the virus from spreading even though it could not delete it. I'm thinking the file was deleted when I deleted all the Temporary Internet files because the virus infected a temporary internet file.

Thanks again!!!
