Door shutting sound?

Here's an odd one. My daughter's computer has suddenly been giving random "door shutting" sounds from the speakers. Tried emptying Windows temp. folder in case something was sitting in there & got "content advisor" error message & blank IE page. Did restore from recycle bin & web pages load as normal. Very strange - anyone come accross this before?

no but on one of my computers this is allso got the door sound would like to know. ive isolated it from the lan and internet.

Have you got yahoo messenger installed? (or any other IM program)
Yahoo messenger uses the door opening/shutting sounds to indicate when pple in the friends list enter or leave the internet.

i dont have lotus. but i have a diferant sound set for mesanger and hat computer does not have mesanger. thx

The sound occurs regardless of whether I am connected to the internet or not. Might be something to do with Messenger as you say - will check out.

Try Control Panel/Desktop Themes/Pointer and Sounds/ try having your sounds set to 'ding' or 'chord' under the path being: C:\Windows\Media\(chord or ding, etc)
