Does removing virus affect the speed of my computer

Specs: Windows 7, 2 gb ddr-2
before 8 days ago i have no virus in my pc.. internet is working good at its best speed..
Coz Of my mistake i got a virus in my pc via pendrive..
i scaned my pc with microsoft security essentials at that time virus were removed..
Now my web pages are not open fast as they open takes much more time, google web page take time around 15-20 sec.. before it takes 3-4 sec (my speed is 256 kbps)..
Now a days no virus in my pc but still getting not much speed as before.. I called they said no problem from our side
So i want to know that virus were affected to my pc or not ? i have to formet my pc ?
plz tell me..

Try an online Virus checker:

Try your Broadband speed:

Use CCLEANER to remove all the missing/junk files on your pc: (free software)

If problem is not solved after these then formatting it is the next option.

The removal of viruses can sometimes affect your PC and its functions that give the appearance of it slowing down when some things are just flat out not working.

An example is a root virus, which affects your hard drive clusters.. you remove those the wrong way and you'll have to re-install your operating system.

Although I agree with some of the things the previous user said, I do not agree with formatting being the next option, thats your last resort. One thing he did not mention was to clean your registry.. look into a program called Registry Mechanic.
