Do I need McAfee Security Center & Viruscan

December 4, 2009 at 08:34:43
Specs: Windows Vista

Sorry for being an ignorant computer owner but...
My Dell came with 3 years of free McAfee Security Center. I already have a subscription to McAfee Viruscan. Do I need to have both? I am not sure whether I should renew my Viruscan subscription. THANKS!

It's always a good idea to have:
- Antivirus Software and Spyware protection
- Firewall

So figure out, what your existing McAfee provides.

Thanks for your reply paulsep.

I have been trying to figure it all out but the McAfee website doesn't make it clear whether Security Center includes a viruscan or not. I don't want to be paying $39.99 for Viruscan if I am already covered under Security Center.

Thanks XPuser.

So, if I cancel my Viruscan subscription I will be fine with just Security Center on my computer then?

Yes. You can forget about renewing your Viruscan subscription.
