I recently was infected with the virus that a few people have been posting about where VIRUS ALERT is in the system tray, I followed the steps outline in an article on this site and all the symptoms seem to have disappeared but I would like some help seeing if anything lingers that I should be worried about.
If anyone could help that would be great
Thanks

1. Install an antivirus program! ...and use it!
2. Take your computer to a repair shop and have them check it for you!
That's how real people find viruses!
The "Virus Alert in System Tray" is not a virus, it IS someone trying to con you into buying a BS program!

Lets assume for now that i'm not as 'real' as responder no.1
Can could anybody else suggest some further scans/steps I could take for myself to clean my computer up after said infection (it may not be a virus technically but it seems to be a problem other people have had and had help for)?
Thanks in advance

You can click the link in my signature and there are lots of good FREE cleaners all listed on one page.
I would suggest running those. Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers
