For the last two days my Outlook (2003) has been swamped by emails - when someone sends me an email I receive it twenty times over a ten hour period (all with the original time on them), and I know for a fact they aren't sending it that many times! I have just virus scanned (McAffree) my computer and it came back clean. Is the problem with my internet provider, or does my Outlook have a virus I'm not detecting through my virus scan?
I haven't a clue - any ideas much appreciated as this is driving me MAD!

Are you receiving these from the same 1 or 2 people.Because if you are,and please correct me if i'm wrong, it tells me that these computers are infected and sending out nasties to infect other computers. If this is the case, try and alert them to scan their computers for viruses. You could also go to say, the kaspersky online scan site to make sure your AV has done the job.If your clean and can't alert these other people, call your internet provider and file a complaint. They will contact them to make it stop.

Nope, it's from anyone who emails me, including people I know are virus free. Could the problem be with the server which hosts my email? I use a POP account and the service provider is terrible. I think it must be them as when I open Outlook in my boyfriend's settings, it doesn't happen at all.

in the options , are you leaving a copy on the server?
If so uncheck it cause everytime your system checks for mail , it will continue to download the same file/email over and over

If you have web mail access check it for a corrupt email. That will always cause the system to stop down loading and when it starts again you get copies of everything it's already downloaded, over and over. If it is a corrupt email delete the emails from the server in web mail and it should solve the problem. It has to be done on web mail though not through outlook or outlook express.

Charlie, this used to happen to me all the time, years ago, and drove me crazy. It eventually stopped happening completely, and I think it was a glitch at my ISP's end.
