I was just doing my scheduled security check of my computer.
I used updated versions of CWShredder, Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, Window Washer, BrowserHijackBlaster, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, Zone Alarm Firewall, XP Anti-spy, and RegCleaner. In addition, I have Norton Anti-Virus, also updated.
There are no problems detected by any of these programs. I can use Clean Disk and Defrag fine. But when I try to scan my C: drive, the standard blue screen comes up to say it is about to start scanning, then it says "cannot open volume for direct access" Then it says windows has finished scanning the disk. Can anyone out there guess what the problem might be?
Thanks so much!
KRastro

Do you have Zone Alarm 5.0 installed? I had the same problem and I uninstalled the 5.0 and went back to the 4.5 and that fixed it.

Bob,
Thank you very much for your suggestion. Yes, that was it. I was just trying different things and came up with the same conclusion as you did. Good to know I'm not the only one to see this problem.
Take care,
KRastro
