I've been reading comments by 'Capt' that to remove BugBear properly on networks, drive and printer sharing has to be switched off. I'm hoping to get a response from Capt soon, but in the meantime, has anyone else heard about this? We simply can't print anylonger on our 20-PC network since a BugBear infection and subsequent removal. Regards.

Each individual pc should be disconnected from the network until all pc's have been cleaned otherwise you risk reinfecting yourself .

gdg was correct in what I was trying to say. You have to isolate each computer from the net, while you clean it to isolate the virus and prevent it from replicating in the shared net. Sometimes you have to disable sharing c drive to clean it. You must install the Microsoft critical update to prevent another infection for each computer and its operating system. If you are using XP and for some reason do not want to install the service pack 1, go to the Gibson Research website and download and install his patch, or Bugbear will be right back at it. For the best removal instructions go to the Symantec website, it is very important isolate and follow each step to prevent reinfection. There are also several removal tools out from the various antivirus vendors: Symantec, Macafee, Trend Micro as everyone was hit by this thing.

FIXED IT! FIXED IT! FIXED IT!
The c:\windows\spool\printers folder on the 'print servers' was absolutly choc-a-block with failed print jobs that BugBear had left behind. Emptying out this folder fixed it. Boy, am I happpy now!
Thanks to everyone for suggestions.
